“In the shadow of His hand He hid me” Isaiah 49:2
- Prophet Isaiah pointed out three remarkable things about how God works in our lives from the above passage:
“In the shadow of His hand He hid me.” We will remember that before fire came down from heaven during the ministry of Prophet Elijah, God asked him to go and hide himself at the brook Cherith where he was supernaturally fed and strengthened (I Kings 17:3). Before every showing, there must be a hiding. God has to pull us aside, do some work on us that cannot be done any other way. - “He made me into a polished arrow, concealed in His quiver.” An archer takes a rough tree branch, cuts it down and makes it into a highly polished arrow capable of hitting the target. Next thing is that he puts it into his quiver. A quiver is a secure, accessible storage for weapon of battle. Be malleable in God’s hands so as to be usable for heavenly purposes.
- “You are my servant in whom I will display my splendour.” The Balkans Mountains in Southeast Europe is a major world supplier of rose oil. The roses had to be collected during the darkest hours. This activity must be performed at such period; otherwise, 40% of the fragrance will disappear in the light of the day. The lesson here is that your night’s preparation determines your day’s outcome. Life is an aroma and through your influence, others are lifted or broken.
Beloved, as we all desire to be people of impact in our life endeavour, the only way is to embrace the shadows, discover God and grow in them.
