Behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee (I Kings 17:9)
At a time when no human being can explain convincingly why economic indices are failing to accurately address imbalances in global economic distortions, we can only turn to a Biblical, historical event and glean some wisdom on how to escape from miseries and live in abundance. Prophet Elijah experienced something similar and turned to God who asked him to go to a city and meet with a “widow” woman and not a wealthy person (I Cor 1:27).
The woman was about eating her last meal and die; which was an indication of a lost hope. The man of God was full of power but needs physical food for strength. God brought the two together so as to balance their equation.
The woman obeyed the man of God by preparing his food first (I Kings 17:12) and the man of God exercised his God-given power to pronounce an un-ending abundance into the life of the woman (vs. 14-15)
-Brethren, when you need it, the Lord will provide – His name is Jehovah Jireh (Genesis 22:14).
-The people God will use might surprise you. Who could have thought that a widow woman will be a channel for a big man of God like Elijah?
-Our somewhat bad time is God’s opportune moment. The woman was all set to eat her last meal on earth when God’s work has a need, but God looked for someone with a seed, stretched her faith and both the giver and the man of God were blessed.
Divine provision methods are in the DNA of God. But most often, He’ll wait till we are totally dependent on Him before we see Him come through for us.
